Mentor Training Program: how to be a mentor)A frequent complaint from regulatory agencies and appraiser trainees centers on the lack of certified appraisers who are willing to train and the lack of properly trained Mentors. The concept of “the blind leading the blind” is heard far too often. Whether you decide to assist a trainee in your own office or do it more formally in a school setting, the process is a major responsibility. The appraisal profession currently relies on experienced appraisers training new entrants. The Tran-American Institute of Professional Studies, Inc. has developed training program guidelines for all appraisers who want to be sure they are training correctly. The program will be available for state regulatory agencies and certified appraisers by early 2005.
